MS Windows – why not try Open Office and save money

Choosing an online university is getting more difficult because there are so many high level universities to choose from. At one time online and off line universities were chosen based on the quality of their teaching staff and the courses offered. The wise student now also includes the level of technology that the university employs in its instruction. When Windows was the only game in town, most students did not own their own computer due to the expense.
As computers dropped in price and every student has their own, so too did the development of alternative operating systems and other cheaper programs increase. Likewise, universities have moved from requiring the student to purchase an extensive library of books each semester to allowing students to use e-books and free software such as audacity and open office.
Rest assured though that this has not affected the quality of education. Online degrees are as accepted as offline degrees; their advantage is they allow a student to continue working while also obtaining a degree. That's an immediate savings of $25,000+ in student loans and fees.
If you are undertaking an online degree, we would love to hear about it.
